Guernsey, 19 February 2024 – At Safer, as a premier domestic abuse charity in Guernsey, we’re excited to unveil our latest initiative directly to you: ‘Safer spaces.’ This initiative is an invitation for local businesses to join us in a crucial fight against domestic abuse, aiming to create a safer Guernsey for everyone.
Startling Statistics in Guernsey
- 1 in 3 women, 1 in 6 men, and 1 in 5 children in Guernsey will experience domestic abuse in their lifetimes.
- 75% of domestic abuse victims are harassed at their place of work.
- 90% of victims report their abuse directly impacted their work performance.
- 50% of victims report they took time off from work due to their abuse.
These statistics highlight the urgent need for community-wide involvement in tackling this pervasive issue.
About Safer spaces
Safer spaces is a pioneering partnership program where your business can play a powerful role in creating a safe environment for employees affected by domestic abuse. By training volunteer ‘Safer space Champions’ within your organisation, we will empower your team to offer guidance and support to those ready to disclose their domestic abuse.
