Safer spaces

This pioneering partnership program creates safe and supportive environments within workplaces where victims of domestic abuse can disclose their experiences and receive support through trained Safer Spaces Champions. The goal is to raise awareness about domestic abuse and empower victims to seek help, ending them suffering in silence.
“I spoke to my Safer Champion in the workplace who was incredibly informative about the services I could access. I felt supported every step of the way and was very grateful. I am now working with Safer and getting the help I need.”

Safer spaces Champions training

By training volunteer “Safer spaces Champions” within your organisation, we empower your team to provide guidance and support to those ready to disclose their experiences.

Funds raised by companies investing in the Safer spaces initiative allows us to educate other charitable partners in Guernsey on domestic abuse and how to support their clients and colleagues.

What Safer spaces Champions say

"Norman Piette recognises that we have a responsibility to ensure the well-being and safety of all our employees. By providing Safer Spaces training, we can equip our staff with the knowledge and skills to recognise signs of abuse and offer appropriate support to colleagues who may be experiencing it. It can also help to create a supportive and understanding workplace culture. We believe that employees who feel supported by their colleagues and the company are more likely to seek help if they are experiencing domestic abuse or know someone who is, and more likely to be engaged and productive at work. Addressing issues related to domestic abuse can improve employee morale, productivity, and retention."
Norman Piette, Craig Gontier, Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager
"At the Library, we recognise the need to create a safe haven for everyone who walks through our doors. That’s why teaming up with Safer made sense – we want our staff and visitors to feel secure, no matter what. Going through the Safer Champion training with my colleague Jodie was eye-opening and incredibly valuable. We’re pleased to now have the essential tools and insights to better support and protect those who seek solace in our library and ensure it remains a welcoming place for all."
Guille-Alles Library, Catherine Stuart, Head of Learning & Development
